Easter Treat Swaps

Sharing some of my favorite, better-for-you, Easter candy that you and your family will love

Another holiday is upon us, and the supermarket shelves are stocked with candy and treats galore. Have you ever thought to look at the ingredients in your favorite Easter candy? Whether you’re filling Easter baskets or eggs, there are several great alternatives on the market that are not only just as yummy, but have better ingredients, too.

Here are a few main reasons why I choose to stay away from the traditional Easter candy:

DYES

While not all candy is brightly colored, the ones that are use artificial dyes such as Red 40, Blue 1, and Yellow 6.

ARTIFICIAL FLAVORS

Nearly every candy on the market has artificial flavors. Artificial flavors are synthetic additives used to create a more cost-effective item, instead of using real ingredients.

CORN SYRUP

A common ingredient, but a harmful one, that contains varying amounts of sugar which can contribute to heart disease, diabetes, and increase cholesterol.

Some better for you options include:

UNREAL Dark Chocolate Coconut Bars | 3g Sugar | Certified Vegan, Gluten Free, Fair Trade, Non-GMO | No Sugar Alcohols or Soy | Value Size, 9.5oz

UNREAL Milk Chocolate Gems | Certified Fair Trade, Non-GMO | Made with Gluten Free Ingredients and Colors from Nature | No Sugar Alcohols or Soy | 2 Bags

UNREAL Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter Cups | 5g Sugar | Certified Vegan, Gluten Free, Fair Trade, Non-GMO | No Sugar Alcohols or Soy | Value Size, 9.5oz

YumEarth Organic Giggles Chewy Candy, Fruit Flavored | Allergy Friendly, Non GMO, Gluten Free, Vegan | 5 Oz - Pack of 6

YumEarth Spring Fruit Gummy Snack Packs | Allergy Friendly, Non GMO, Gluten Free, Vegan | 10 Count

Several reasons I like these candy options instead:

NATURAL COLORS

These alternatives are colored with real food ingredients such as spirulina, turmeric, and beets.

NO ARTIFICIAL FLAVORS OR INGREDIENTS

I think this speaks for itself. Who wants to eat something that’s artificial or fake?

NO HIGH FRUCTOSE CORN SYRUP OR TRADITIONAL CORN SYRUP Organic cane sugar is a common ingredient in these candy alternatives that is real, raw, and one of the better-for-you sweeteners on the market.

One of the best things about these great options is that they’re all available and easily accessible on Amazon. Fill your kiddos Easter baskets with a few individually wrapped Unreal Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter Cups or Yum Earth Gummy Fruits, and you’ll be well on your way to a successful and pleasing Easter for everyone!
