A New Release Book Review

If you haven’t heard of Zibby Owens yet, do yourself a favor and give her a quick Google search. Zibby Owens is taking the literary world for a wild ride, and one of her first books published through her new publishing company is a book by Alisha Fernandez Miranda titled, My What If Year. Miranda, a former Latina CEO of an award-winning social impact intelligence agency, is a Harvard graduate whose writings have been published in various well known magazines and publications. This mother of twins has written a fabulous book about her year living out her “what if” dreams.

Let’s set up this scenario: imagine if you took a leap of faith and acted on your deepest career desires. Would you become the next Hoda Kotb? What about a Wall Street trader? Or how about a zoologist in your favorite city? Alisha Fernandez Miranda kicked around the idea of taking time to pursue her repressed passions. Yes, this happened over a couple (or more) drinks with friends at first, but after pondering the idea of becoming an intern with a few career paths of choice at length, Fernandez Miranda decided to go for it! This book is her chronicle of those adventures.

My What If Year is labeled as a memoir but often reads as a comedy. Reading this book is like sitting on the couch with your best friend in your pajamas laughing about crazy ideas and far out fantasies. The tone of the book is conversational and flows perfectly. Before readers know it, they are flying through the pages toward the end. This memoir is difficult to put down! Broadway shows, entering into the pandemic, an internship in the art world, and pasta making are just a few adventures that Miranda tells us about in this witty novel.

A Zibby Book, this memoir is one to purchase for yourself - you’ll enjoy it even more if you rope a friend into reading it with you! You’ll laugh, empathize with the author, and want to take your own “what if” year when reading this “YES, YOU CAN!” gem. Go for it, I dare you.

This book seems intriguing to me as I love incorporating comedy in my everyday life, especially with my bestfriend. I will put this in my cart as to read it when teacher time settles down. Love summer morning reading as it helps my soul. I'm looking forward to this read. (summer as well!) 😉 #teacherlife #summercountdown
